About Summer Packages in Iceland

Summer packages provide you with the chance to explore Iceland’s landscapes, towns and settlements and to partake in multiple summer tours without having to worry about booking preparations—accommodation, transfers and excursions are organised for you before arrival.

1. How is pick-up from the airport arranged?

You will be provided with an open Flybus ticket which gives you admission to a bus that transfers you to Reykjavík from Keflavík Airport and back.

2. Should my accommodation be in Keflavik, could I be dropped off or picked up from there?

We only offer direct Keflavík International Airport transfers to and from Reykjavík accommodations. You would, therefore, do well to book accommodation in Keflavík that offers an airport shuttle since you will be dropped off and picked up from there. Another option would be to make use of a taxi transfer, which is not included in any of these packages.

3. Can I get picked up at my apartment, my Airbnb lodging or at a private residence?

No, but you can choose from a list of designated pickup locations, such as the nearest hotel, during the booking process. Be sure to contact your travel agent if there is any confusion.

4. Can I customise my package?

You can customise your package during booking by selecting which tours to opt into, and the level of comfort you want from your accommodation. There is, however, little room for more customisation. Please email for further information.

5. Can I visit the Blue Lagoon on a different day than the one that was originally scheduled?

Yes, rescheduling visits to the Blue Lagoon is almost always possible. Just contact your travel agent so that all the necessary arrangements can be made.

6. What happens if my tour is cancelled due to weather?

In the case of a weather cancellation, we will try to reschedule your tour or organise an alternative option. If neither is possible, you will receive a full refund. If you join a cheaper tour than the one that was originally booked, you will be refunded the price difference.

7. In what currencies can I make my payment?

We always charge in Icelandic króna (ISK). To help you approximate prices in your preferred currency, our website lists an estimate of prices in a number of currencies; the final payment, however, is always conducted in ISK and we only refund in ISK. Because Guide to Iceland does not charge any booking or transaction fees, we can not be held liable for any loss in currency exchange during transactions.

8. Where can I exchange money in Iceland?

You can exchange currency at the airport and in most banks in Iceland.

9. Can I see the northern lights during summer?

No, the northern lights cannot be seen in May, June, July or early August, since the sky does not get dark at night throughout this time. From September to the beginning of April, however, they appear regularly and clearly.

10. Where can I see the puffins and penguins in Iceland?

Puffins can be seen along Iceland’s coastline between April and August. The most popular spotting locations are the Westman Islands, Latrabjarg and Dyrholaey. You can join boat tours from Reykjavík and other towns to see them nesting on islands and sea cliffs. There are, unfortunately, no penguins in the Northern Hemisphere.

11. What should I do in case of an emergency?
