Yes, you need a valid driver’s license from your home country. You will sign a liability form before the tour, stating that you possess a valid driver’s license.

No, it is sufficient to have a regular driver’s license.

No, you need to have a valid driver’s license.

4. What is the minimum age for ATV & Buggy Tours?

A child as young as six years old can partake as a passenger.

5. Are there places to stop to take pictures on the way?

Yes, your guides will always make a few stops for pictures, and they are happy to take pictures of you on your ATV or Buggy.

6. I’ve seen ATV’s driving on a beach, isn’t off-road driving illegal in Iceland?

Yes, off-road driving is illegal. When on a tour, you will only be driving where the tour operator has a license or a permit to drive, which could be a beach close to the seashore or somewhere on a private land with permission.

7. Will the tour get cancelled if it rains?

No, Iceland’s weather is constantly changing, and the tour is only cancelled if there is a severe storm or dangerous weather conditions. If it gets cancelled, you will be notified by the operator.

8. What equipment is provided? What do I need to bring?

You will receive warm overalls, a balaclava, a helmet and gloves. Please bring warm clothes and good shoes.

9. What's better, an ATV or a Buggy?

It depends on what you're looking for! For example, an ATV requires the rider to lean in against the handlebars, whilst a Buggy allows the driver to ride from a sitting position.
