Make your way to the town of Akureyri in North Iceland. Depending on your arrival time, you might have time to explore Akureyri a bit before you meet your guide at a location of your choosing. It is highly recommended that you check out Akureyri’s swimming pool where you can unwind in one of their three hot tubs and steam bath.

After settling into your accommodations, you’ll be taking a short tour of Akureyri where you will have a dinner at a quaint restaurant in town. There you will get to know your guides and fellow travellers and discuss the days that lie ahead.

Day 2 - Yoga & Huskies

Give the Huskies a cuddle after a dog sledding tour.

This day starts with a 2-hour yoga session in the Yoga & Wellbeing Centre which offer fantastic views of the town and the surrounding environment. After a good workout, you’ll be taken to a café/restaurant in Akureyri for a nice lunch.

In the afternoon, you’ll get to meet the adorable Huskies and go on an exhilarating dog sledding tour. You’ll race around the beautiful northern landscapes, through the powdery snow on a cart pulled by your new four-legged friends. Afterwards, you’ll get to reward the dogs with a good belly rub.

After an eventful day, you’ll return to your accommodations where you can unwind in the Spa and try the outdoor jacuzzi or the Finnish sauna.

Day 3 - Yoga in the Mountains

Come along on this tour and try out yoga poses in nature.

The third day starts with another indoor yoga session. After which, you’ll be taken on a tour of the Troll Peninsula where you’ll find a wonderful valley with smalls mountains lakes.

You’ll drive into the stunning Svarfaðadalur valley, passing majestic mountains on the way. You’ll stop by at the old farm Skeið on the edge of the valley where you’ll get snowshoes so you can hike easily through the thick snow up to a small mountain lake.

At the lake, you might do some yoga in the snow or just enjoy the peace and quiet surrounded by majestic pyramid-shaped mountains before you hike back to the farm. Once there, you’ll be welcomed into the cozy, renovated barn where you’ll receive a delicious lamb lunch (vegetarian option available).

Back at the accommodations, you can unwind in the outdoor jacuzzi. Make sure to look up into the sky. As you are travelling in the winter, you never know when the Northern Lights might appear.

Day 4 - Yoga & Geothermal Area

Explore the geothermal area of Námaskarð on this tour.

After your morning yoga session, you’ll have lunch in the town of Akureyri. Then, you’ll go on a journey to one of the most unusual and exciting places in Iceland: Lake Mývatn, a geothermal area formed in a volcanic eruption some 2,000 years ago.

On the way to Lake Mývatn, you’ll stop by at Goðafoss waterfall, also known as ‘The Waterfall of the Gods’. This is a stunning feature, especially in the winter when it is blanketed in snow with dripping icicles.

You will then reach the Mývatn area. Here you’ll explore diverse sites such as Skútustaðir pseudocraters, the strange lava sculptures in the Dimmuborgir lava field, and the continental divide, bubbling mud pools and hissing fumaroles in Námaskarð geothermal area.

After a day of exploring you’ll get to soak in the ‘Blue Lagoon of the North’, Mývatn Nature Baths. If the sky is clear of clouds, make sure to look up for a chance to see the elusive Northern Lights.

This charming little island is known as the ‘Pearl of Eyjafjörður’ and for good reason; its fantastic view of the fjord and mountains, along with the tranquillity, interesting history and culture have made this a great stop for those travelling in northern Iceland.

A short hike will take you to a wonderful viewpoint and a fantastic spot for some outdoor yoga. You’ll then snowshoe onwards to edge of the island where you can watch the pounding waves of the Atlantic Ocean crash against the cliffs.

Back in the Hrísey village, you can end the day with a soak in the local, geothermal pool before returning to your accommodations.

Day 6 - Farewell

Snowshoes will make your hiking tour easier.

Today is your last day. As usual, it will start with a yoga session in the Yoga & Wellbeing Centre. After that, you will do the last snowshoe hike of the tour and hike on the eastern shore of Eyjafjörður fjord. There, you will have a fantastic view of the fjord where you can bid farewell to North Iceland.

Your guide will then drive you to Akureyri where you can explore the town a bit before you continue on with your adventures in Iceland.
