This tour offers you a chance to explore The Golden Circle, Iceland’s most beloved sightseeing route, at your own leisure in a rental car. You’ll see Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall and the Geysir Geothermal Area. You’re also free to stop at any other gorgeous location which takes you fancy, so make sure to bring a camera.

Your convenience and comfort are ensured by giving you the choice of three types of cars, depending on your preferences. There are three available car types; Small (Toyota Yaris or similar), Medium (VW Golf or similar) or SUV (Kia Sportage or similar). The cars are outfitted with all the necessary safety gear, with Icelandic winter weather in mind - included is also information about the places you will see.

During the tour you will get a taste of Iceland’s natural wonders and culture. You’ll stop at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the world’s first parliament was operated over a thousand years ago. You’ll also see Geysir, the geyser which the word is derived from and Gullfoss Waterfall, an impressive two-level water fixture.

On your drive you’ll pass other exciting sights, including the beautiful coastline of South Iceland. Along the way, multiple volcanoes are visible, like Hekla, Eyjafjallajökull and Hengilsvæðið. There are also glaciers such as Langjökull, Tindafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull, and several glacier snouts.

Since you’re driving yourself, you have the freedom to explore at your own pace. We can recommend various additional stops on the way, for example, Kerið Volcanic Crater Lake, which is a popular addition, especially for geology enthusiasts.

There are many pools and geothermal spas in Iceland, and close to the Golden Circle you can find the wonderful Laugarvatn Fontana Wellness where you can relax in various hot tubs and steam baths naturally heated by Icelandic hot springs. Or if you’d like a more secluded soak in a hot spring Vígðalaug – the “Blessed Pool” - is also nearby.

Another nice stop to make is at Friðheimar Greenhouse Cultivation Centre, one of Iceland’s biggest greenhouses. You can learn about the magic behind growing delicious, pesticide-free tomatoes with the aid of geothermal heat which Iceland has in abundance. You can also have a meal in the greenhouse.
