South Coast Superjeep Tour | The Golden Circle & Snowmobiling

Revitalize your spirit by taking a tour of the most essential natural environments in Iceland. This tour takes you to the most popular locations on the south coast: the Golden Circle. This tour is for anyone who simply cannot miss these acclaimed attractions or for those who only have a short time to enjoy Iceland.

The Golden Circle gives you three sites in one tour: Þingvellir National Park, Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss waterfall.

After being picked up from your accommodation in Rekjavik, you’re on your way to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the location of the world’s first parliament, founded in the 10th century by powerful Viking chieftains who wanted to allow all citizens of the land to participate in government

The park is also a rift valley, the land ripped in two along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. One side of the gorge sits on the North American tectonic plate, the other on the Eurasian plate. Walk between the continents as you take a stroll down the path.

The incredible pressures surging beneath the earth have ripped the land asunder at various places, which then filled with water from underground rivers, creating fissures like Sifra, a popular diving spot, or the various steam vents which make the ground hot. Filling the horizon beyond Silfra is Þinvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Next, you'll see Geysir geothermal area, a fascinating space of primal forces that have existed for eons. Heat bubbles up from the earth’s core, exploding from the surface in the form of vents, steaming fumaroles, boiling mud pots and the geysers which release pressure every few minutes. The most active is Strokkur, who explodes every 10 minutes with blasts of water up to 40 m (131 ft) high.

The last stop on the Golden Circle is Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall, filled with huge amounts of meltwater from Iceland’s largest glacier. It tumbles with impressive power down the two-tiered falls, into the canyon below. You can feel the force yourself by taking the path directly over the falls. Feel the vibrations in your body as the spray hits your face.

Finally, you’ll cap off the day with a spin around the snow capping Langjökull glacier on a peppy snowmobile! You’ll take in the view from the very top of the world, all wrapped in pristine snow, surrounded by the timeless mountains.
