Northern Lights Tour from Reykjavik by Minibus
Join this tour for a thrilling view of the Northern Lights, luminous colors which splash the sky under the right conditions. This tour is for anyone who wants the quintessential cold-weather experience in Iceland, where the locals bundle up in their warmest clothes and go hunting for the aurora.
This tour is designed with your comfort in mind, with small groups so that nothing will interfere with your enjoyment!
The aurora can appear in great glowing hues, or it can be a shy glimmer dancing on the edge of your vision, but the experienced tour guides will endeavor to find the best possible place for you to look! Conditions are checked each day in Iceland, looking for a convergence of clear skies and geomagnetic storm activity in the earth’s atmosphere.
In pre-modern times, before such things as geomagnetic activity and gases which ignite in the atmosphere were common knowledge, previous cultures often tried to explain these strange colors in the night sky.
Though the earliest written description of Northern Lights is credited to a Babylonian stone tablet, they are most often seen at higher latitudes in the North Atlantic, there are cave paintings full of mysterious swirls in the sky which are thought to depict them. Throughout history, they have been interpreted as messages from long-dead ancestors, a celestial fire, a bridge for the Norse gods to cross at night, or even a great arctic fox in the sky. What will you see?
You must also remember to bring your camera for a special keepsake. Your tour guide is happy to help you get a good shot of these elusive lights.
