Zip through the waters of the Westfjords to reach your skiing slopes.

Go to the most remote area in Iceland, for the most epic ski trip imaginable. For six days in the Icelandic spring, use the long daylight hours to make the most of the snow that's still available in this northern part of the country.

Each day you'll get on a boat that will take you to unspoiled white slopes, where you can make your mark in the gorgeous runs of the Westfjord mountains.

You'll get to spend the nights at Kvíar lodge, where every night a well-deserved dinner will be waiting for you after a day of good exercise on the un-skied pistes.

This is not a trip to miss for experienced skiers - but it is only for experienced skiers. Note that there are no lifts on the slopes we'll be taking, so you'll need to bring skis and climbing skins in order to hike up to the top.

If you're looking for an action-packed trip to Iceland that's truly off the beaten path, then this is it. Check availability by choosing a date.

Daily itinerary

Day 1

The ski slopes of the Westfjords beg for adventure.

Please note: This plan is just to give an example. Conditions will dictate what is and isn't possible, and your speedboat will be able to get you to alternate destinations if certain routes are too dangerous.

On day one, you will meet your guides and group and take a speedboat to Bjarnarnes cove from the harbour in Ísafjörður. Your destination is Kvíar Ski Lodge, where you'll spend few hours searching for good snow and going over some safety issues with the guide. You should eat well and dress accordingly before getting on board the speedboat and keep your ski gear ready.

After getting a taste of the slopes, you'll enjoy a well-deserved dinner at the farmhouse you'll stay at.

Day 2

Snowboarders and skiers will find an oasis of adventure in the Westfjords.

A short boat ride will take you to the head of Lónafjörður fjord where you shoulder your pack and either head to Rangali and skin up Rangalaskarð Pass, or up from Miðkjós and skin up to the peaks of Snókur and Breiðuskarðahnjúkur.

After a day of awesome skiing, you will take a boat ride back to Kvíar where a great meal awaits. If you want, you can spend half an hour on the beach picking mussels for the starter before heading back. After that, the sauna will be a welcome place to unwind.

Day 3

A zodiac will take you to the best ski slopes around the Westfjords.

After a hearty breakfast, you'll get going on the big Zodiac to Veiðileysufjörður fjord, where you plan to ski over to Lónafjörður fjord. You'll make at least two long runs, and end in Rangali, one of the most beautiful fjords in Iceland.

Day 4

A stunning sky with the midnight sun and stars over the Westfjords in summer.

You'll spend the whole fourth day exploring the mountains in Hrafnfjörður (e. Raven's Fjord). The head of the fjord holds some amazing cruising grounds with smooth runs all the way from the tops. The highlights are from the top of Hvítserkur and Mt. Bláfell and from the pass between Bláfell and Mt. Hattarfell.

For those that want something really steep, there is an option to ski the West face of Hattarfell. This is only for very advanced skiers, however.

Day 5

Pack your day with activities, and enjoy your nights absorbing beauty, in the Westfjords.

On the last full day, you will take a short boat ride over to Höfðaströnd beach and skin up to the top of Mt. Tröllafell (e. Troll Mountain) with a mixture of steep couloirs and open runs. There is a lot of un-skied territory on one side, to make some nice first descents at.

Day 6

Take the daunting slopes of the Westfjords, if you dare.

Your passenger boat arrives early for a pickup and transfer back to Ísafjörður, where you will get ready for some skiing in the vicinity of town. After that, the tour is complete and you can continue with your holiday.
