Come join us on a glacial adventure! The tour departs from the historic Thingvellir National park, located near the famous Golden circle area in Iceland. This trip will take you through the rugged highlands of Kaldidalur Valley, on top of Langjökull, which is Iceland's second largest glacier, and inside the glacier's ice cap to visit the world's largest man-made ice cave. All of this combined in a tour that takes only 5.5 hours to complete and will drop you off at Þingvellir park, so you are ready to continue your exploration or return to your accommodation afterwards.

On route from Þingvellir to our base camp Klaki, which is located at the base of Langjökull glacier, our knowledgeable English-speaking guide will recount the history of Kaldidalur track. Kaldidalur is one of the highest mountain roads in Iceland and was used by Icelanders all over the country to travel to the „Althingi“, one of the oldest parliaments in Europe, in ancient times.

You will also learn the significance of the glacier to the region, explaining how its underground glacial streams feed the picturesque Lake Þingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest natural lake in the heart of the Golden Circle, as you travel the rocky Kaldidalur highland road. This tour also focuses on the importance of glaciers in Iceland in general, as well as providing beautiful views of the Icelandic highlands and glacier terrain. Inside Langjökull you will also get the chance to see what the inside of the glacier looks like and how the blue glacier ice is formed while visiting the glacier ice cave that was carved into the ice cap near its top.

This tour is perfect for those seeking to connect the south of Iceland and the Golden Circle area with a glacier tour or for those looking for an amazing experience that combines many activities into one. It provides a convenient starting location for those travelling from Reykjavik as Þingvellir national park is only a 45 – 50-minute drive from the downtown area of the Capital.
