Add a once-in-a-lifetime tour to your day at the awe-inspiring Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, by including a trip into the ice cave. Ice caving is Iceland’s most incredible winter activity, so do not let this opportunity pass you by.

The tour will begin at Jökulsárlón’s car park, where your glacier guides will be waiting. You would, however, be well advised to reserve an hour or two before or after the tour to explore this magical lagoon, which fills with giant icebergs and is home to many seals.

Your guides are experienced, friendly and qualified, and will ensure you have a personal experience by having a ratio of two guides to a maximum of fifteen guests. You and your group will board the super jeeps awaiting once you are ready, and set off for your ice cave in Breiðamerkurjökull glacier.

The ice caves are only stable enough to enter in the very depths of winter, and even then can be volatile, but your’s will have been checked before your arrival to ensure it is safe to enter. The opportunity to explore one is thus incredibly rare around the world.

When you see your ice cave, you’ll see why tours such as this one are so popular and competitive. They barely seem natural, with perfectly arranged icicles, dramatic scale and silky smooth walls. Your guide will get you into your safety equipment, then let you roam around.

You will spend about forty minutes in the cave, during which your guide will tell you all about the science behind these creations, the folklore of the area, and they will answer any questions you may have. After you have drunk up the beauty of the site, you’ll return to the super jeep, and be whisked back to Jökulsárlón.

Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to explore an ice cave in Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. Check availability by choosing a date.
