Come along on a ride of a lifetime and explore the outlay isles of the Vestmannaeyjar isles. This tour starts at our base, Saltaberg, where we pick up the necessary gear for this expedition. We will go over the safety rules, get familiar with the equipment and get all the needed instructions. From Saltaberg, we go down to the harbour where our boat docks.

The boat ride to Bjarnarey island takes about 10-15 minutes depending on weather conditions. You should be prepared for a rough ride and sudden weather changes as the Icelandic climate is unpredictable and sometimes extreme. It's a good idea to bring extra clothes in a hiking backpack.

Bjarnarey island hosts one of the largest puffin colonies in the Westman Islands. The island is uninhabited with only a single building, the Bjarnarey Lodge, situated at the edge of the stunning westside, 120 meters above sea level. After ascending the island and a quick stop with refreshments at our hunting lodge, we gear up and hike across the island to the spectacular east cliff where the highlight of this tour takes place.

The trail down the cliff is fitted with bolts and safety lines all the way, which you are connected to at all times. During this little hike, we will tiptoe the ledges of this unique natural wonder passing through the habitat of the Guillemot (Common Murre), the Kittiwake, the Puffin and the Fulmar. We will not rush through anything, giving you ample opportunity to enjoy the view, take pictures and relax.

At the end of the trail, we will be pulled up a vertical cliff (20 meters), and a hot meal will be waiting for us at the lodge. Incredible view of Heimaey and the surrounding islands from the dinner table.

After dinner, we head back down the island to the boat and sail around it before routing back to the harbour. We end the tour in our base, Saltaberg, where we get a chance to recap the tour, offering dropoff in the end.

Don't miss this incredible opportunity to explore the lone island and get up close and personal with nature. Check availability by choosing a date.
