Of the three tours you will take, the first and last will take a full day each, and the other is an overnight tour. You will start by exploring the Snæfellnes Peninsula, often called 'Iceland in Miniature' due to its incredibly diverse sites and landmarks.

You will then follow this with a thorough exploration of the South Coast, staying overnight in a country hotel to make the most of it. This tour will culminate in a visit to the magnificent Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and a climb up Sólheimajökull glacier.

Your final day will be spent exploring the famous sites of the Golden Circle, with the bonuses of visiting Kerið Crater and the waterfall Faxi. Over these four days, therefore, you will see a vast amount of Iceland’s west and south and will visit all three of the country’s national parks.

All tours are conducted in spacious minibuses and led by experienced guides. This combo thus promises to be as comfortable and personal as possible.

Daily itinerary

Day 1 - The Snæfellsnes Peninsula

4-Day Discount Summer Tour Combo | Snaefellsnes, Jokulsarlon & Golden Circle

You will take the first tour on day one. You will be picked up from Reykjavík early and whisked to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The landscapes and features of this 90 kilometre stretch of coast are very diverse, and you will see stretches of lava fields, amazing waterfalls, quaint villages and a majestic glacier.

You will get to visit Mount Kirkjufell, a dramatic, unusual peak that is a favourite amongst photographers; besides it sits a quaint waterfall called Kirkjufellsfoss. The black sand beach of Djúpalónssandur is also on your checklist, a beautiful place where you can see how you would have fared as a fisherman of old against the historic lifting stones. The dramatic volcanic rock pinnacles of Lóndrangar will also be visited.

You will visit the fishing villages of Arnarstapi and Hellnar, where the coastal scenery is breathtaking, and the lonely hamlet of Búðir, on the Búðahraun lava fields. These settlements are all within sight of Snæfellsjökull, the beautiful glacier and volcano that sits at the end of the peninsula.

Once Snæfellsnes is fully explored, you will return to Reykjavík for the night. Please note that accommodations in Reykjavík are not included with this tour combo.

Day 2 - The South Coast

4-Day Discount Summer Tour Combo | Snaefellsnes, Jokulsarlon & Golden Circle

Today, you will start your second tour, this time along the South Coast. You will be picked up early as there are many features to see.

First, you will stop at the Reynisfjara black sand beach. This stretch of coast has a strange, haunting beauty, as well as many fascinating geological features, such as the Reynisfjara sea stacks. Be careful as you admire, however; this beach is notorious for its sneaker waves.

Following this, you will head into the Skaftafell Nature Reserve, part of the greater Vatnajökull National Park. This area is renowned for its verdant beauty, its glaciers, and its waterfalls, most notably Svartifoss.

You will then continue along the South Coast to today’s highlight, the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, part of the Vatnajökull National Park. This is one of Iceland’s most beautiful features; the vast lake is filled with giant icebergs, which have separated from a glacier tongue and are slowly edging their way to the ocean.

Just a short walk away is the Diamond Beach; this is where the icebergs wash up when they finally escape the lagoon. In the surf and against the black sands, they make for an incredibly unique and serene sight.

You will spend the night in a lovely country hotel on the South Coast which is included with this tour combo.

Day 3 - Glacier Hiking and back to Reykjavík

4-Day Discount Summer Tour Combo | Snaefellsnes, Jokulsarlon & Golden Circle

On day three, you will make one more visit to Jökulsárlón; its beauty changes under different light, and you’ll be grateful for the opportunity to see it another time.

After that, you will be taken back along the South Coast towards Reykjavík.

You will make multiple stops en route, however. The first of these will be at the glacier Sólheimajokull, where you will take your glacier hike. This is a fascinating and exciting activity that will introduce you to the ancient, colourful ice, and present you with some incredible views.

Following this, you will stop at the two waterfalls you missed the day before. The first of these is Skógafoss. This feature is much wider and more powerful than its neighbour, and there is a staircase beside it so you can look at it from several different angles.

Next, you'll visit Seljalandsfoss, which falls from a height of sixty metres from a concave cliff that used to mark the edge of Iceland’s coast. If the ground is not too wet, the shape of the cliff means it is possible to fully encircle the water for some beautiful views.

Finally, you will return to Reykjavík for the night.

Day 4 - The Golden Circle

4-Day Discount Summer Tour Combo | Snaefellsnes, Jokulsarlon & Golden Circle

Your final day of this tour combo will be spent exploring the sites of the Golden Circle. This is Iceland’s most popular tourist trail and the essential Icelandic experience.

The first destination is Þingvellir National Park. This Park is located in the mid-Atlantic rift, and nowhere else in the world can you see the Northern American and Eurasian tectonic plates so clearly. The plates are pulling apart, which allows for some incredible geology; there are ravines torn throughout the lava fields, and the cliffs that mark the edge of the continents are incredibly dramatic.

You will then continue to the Geysir Geothermal Area. Here, the geyser Strokkur erupts every five to ten minutes, blasting water to heights that can exceed twenty metres. The surrounding area is very geothermally active, with fumaroles and hot springs dotted around, and parts of the earth are dyed with the minerals rising from beneath your feet.

The third and final stop of the official circle is Gullfoss waterfall, Iceland’s most famous falls and a dramatic and mesmerising feature. Your tour, however, will take you to two other nearby landmarks.

You will get to see Kerið, a crater of vivid red rocks with a permanent pool of azure water within. The contrast between the two makes this an incredibly beautiful site, and it is possible to walk all around the crater’s edge. You will also get to see Faxi waterfall, a wide and serene feature, before heading back to Reykjavík. Once you return, this tour is complete, and what you do with the rest of your time in Iceland is up to you.
